We hope that you will use this blog to converse with your peers about your QET experience. What did you see that you liked? Did you come away from the experience having learned something useful that you can take back to your classroom? What did the experience teach you about your own teaching style?
Feel free to leave any comment relating to your experience. You never know what comments will trigger a response from another teacher. What we are looking for here is a conversation that will enhance the experience for all of us.
WOW! The teachers at Eanes Elementary are using a cool program to teach their students to be more independent in LA. The program is called the DAILY FIVE. I watched a first grade class use words like: translucent, opaque and speckled to describe a "pet rock" they were writing about. What I found fascinating was that the papers they were writing were all different. I saw examples of narratives, descriptives, and personal papers. What a great way to use these as models later to extend this lesson! And they are using great Science terminology to cross content areas. This program is great for differentiation and individuality. Lisa said it would be a great idea if some of us got together to do a book study. KiMi Fields said this program is great for K-3rd. If anyone is interested in doing a book study with me, please e-mail me and let me know. Amazon has the book for about $12.50. Google two sisters, Daily Five for more info. on this program and let me know what you think.

This program looks great. I actually found a couple of blogs about the program. One was specifically on how to incoperate Daily Five and Smartboards. I would love to do the book study.
ReplyDeleteWell this is my first blog EVER!!!!! I hope I am doing it right. We are heading off to observe at Valley View tomorrow. I can't wait. We will be in a 5th grade class, a third grade class , a G.T. class, and in a Wilson class as well. I am glad to be branching out into unfamiliar ground. I am sure I will be learning a bunch!
ReplyDeleteValley View welcomes the QET group from Cedar Creek! We are looking forward to learning as you learn by following your blog.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day here.
Our group just finished our observations and enjoyed seeing the diversity of the classes, noting the various learner centered environments as well as structured environments. The school atmosphere was very quiet, welcoming with students who were well behaved and on task thoughout the lessons. They appeared to want to take risks in spite of having observers in their classroom. We saw lots of collaborative learning, use of powerful use of technology. There was evidence of collaboration between teachers in their planning as well.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved having the opportunity to observe other teachers in a different district and school setting. I am so grateful for the people and environment that I work in. This is a great opportunity to see and learn from other teachers. I look forward to the next visit. This is my first time blogging too!
